关于Photon

Anycubic Photon is a desktop resin 3D printer from the Chinese manufacturer Anycubic. It utilizes LCD shadow masking technology (sometimes listed as DLP) to cure resins with a UV-LED light source.

The machine is equipped with a colorful display that allows previewing 3D models from an SD card before printing. Control options allow managing the printing process in real-time. Photon’s slicing software also claims to prepare models for printing much quicker than some of the similar programs. As for the printing quality, Photon can print details down to a few micrometers.

Despite the low cost, Photon is made out of machined aluminum and stamped sheet metal frames. However, don’t expect to have such handy features like automatic bed-leveling, resin refill or peeling mechanism. Therefore, the machine requires proper care and cleaning before and after printing along with manual control of resin volume in the tank.

As for materials, users have mixed opinions on Anycubic’s original resins. For some people, they don’t really work well. Luckily, the printer can work with third-party materials if settings are well-tailored.

Features:

  • 2K HD LCD masking screen;
  • Connects to a USB stick for offline printing;
  • 40W UV-LED light source;
  • 2.8-inch touchscreen;
  • Vat bath optimized for FEP film;
  • Air filters with activated carbon;
  • Ships almost fully assembled.

The printer itself is excellent, it CAN suffer a little bit from a less-than-rock-solid z axis (personally not an issue I've encountered), and yes, it can be a little finicky to initially level, but once you've got it up and running it is a very solid printer. However the included software sucks Equus africanus asinus spheres. Luckily ChiTuBox is an easily available and excellent replacement and solves most of the problems with the vendor-provided software.
